The Boone County Community Foundation currently manages seven Donor Advised Funds. The beauty of Donor Advised funds is the ability to share in the grantmaking process. As a family, you can build a tradition of giving to your community through a family named fund. How does it work? Your family makes a gift to the Community Foundation and receives tax benefits in the year the gift is made. We set up an endowment that is invested over time. As interest income grows, you and your family can make recommendations to the Foundation for the organizations you want to receive grants. We handle all the administrative details and issue the grants in your family fund’s name. Sometimes it takes time to build those grants, but you can take heart in knowing that your family fund will become a permanent source of community charity, helping to meet the needs and do good work for many lifetimes.
