Stemming from the vision of one man and the belief that the citizens of Boone County, both past and present, are charitable at heart and strong of faith, the Greater Madison and Danville Community Foundation was formed in 2001. The Foundation directors quickly realized that the name of the Foundation was greatly limiting the scope and purpose with which the Foundation was created and in 2004, the name of the Foundation was officially changed to the Boone County Community Foundation.
The BCCF is an affiliate member of The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, the largest community foundation in West Virginia. All contributions given to the Boone County Community Foundation are managed by the professional investment companies through The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, who currently holds over $304,700,000 in endowed funds. Though managed by The Greater Kanawha Valley Foundation, all donations given to the Boone County Community Foundation are used for the purpose of creating grants and scholarships for Boone County.
